Single Touch Payroll-reporting starts 1 July 2018

Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting becomes mandatory for employers with 20 or more employees from 1 July 2018.

Single Touch Payroll will continue to keep you and your employer clients updated on what you need to do and when. We are working on detailed guidance for our website and will let you know when this is available. We recently held a livestreamed Single Touch Payroll employer engagement forum to help employers. This livestream was watched online by tax professionals, large employers and digital service providers. You can now view the recording and transcript of the event, including copies of presentation material used under Related documents. Another change that will happen this year is the inclusion of a STP – view payment details report in the Tax Agent Portal. From 11 December this report will let you view your clients’ financial information, including pay as you go withholding, gross payments and superannuation guarantee amounts. This report will be available in Client reports for your clients who have moved to Single Touch Payroll and will become more relevant next year when you clients start to transition.
